Promoting sustainability competency and self-efficacy in class teacher education

There is an urgent need for a global sustainability transition. This change needs to be cultural and transform both our actions the values on which we base decision-making. Sustainability transition requires concentrating future generations as well people teaching them because class teachers have impact their pupils' knowledge, skills, values, attitudes. Therefore, new competency make transformation in schools happen. Teachers also possess sufficient level of self-efficacy beliefs, they strongly teacher's ability manage job educator. survey research studied Finnish student teachers' ( N = 166) perceptions about education sustainable development. Students' were clustered into one weighted sum variable. Three principal components constructed with component analysis (PCA) describe students' beliefs A PCA paired linear hierarchical regression was conducted explain variation perceptions. The results indicated that combined ethics systems thinking explained 19.3% competency. As result, improving context can improve vice versa. To promote teachers, it necessary aware this connection when developing teacher education.
